Minister for Hajj and Auqaf Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the Upper House that the government has retrieved 210 kanal and 10 marla Waqaf land from the unauthorized occupation of various government departments, defence and paramilitary forces.
Replying to a question of Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, the Minister informed that the government would make all out efforts to retrieve the Waqaf land from the encroachers.
He informed that the matter for retrieval of nearly 3,300 kanal Waqaf property has been taken up with Home and other departments and they have been asked either to vacate the Waqaf Property or pay user charge rent, he added.
He further informed that the J&K Waqaf Act, 2001 does not provide for allotment of Waqaf land to the members of the non-beneficiary community.
Legislators Vibod Gupta and Girdhari Lal Raina also raised supplementary questions to the main question.
